Seam repairs
The repair surface needs proper cleaning, preparation and compatible seam products. A patch over dirty or deteriorated material is not a reliable connection.

Repair an EPDM roof with the compatible membrane, seam and flashing details its rubber assembly needs.
EPDM is a rubber single-ply roof membrane. Its seams and flashings use system-specific tapes, adhesives and preparation, rather than the field heat welds used for TPO. Shrinkage at terminations, open seams and punctures need close examination of the actual detail and the surrounding material.

Compatibility and the condition below the membrane determine how far the work needs to go.

Pipe flashings, curb corners and edge details must remain secure while the membrane accommodates movement.
A dry-looking rubber surface does not establish that all layers below are dry. Wet or deteriorated layers can require removal.
The remaining assembly has to support the selected work.
A system-specific price includes more than sheet material.
Attachment, ballast where present, old layers and disposal affect removal.
Edge length, curbs, pipe flashings and occupied-building access affect the installation plan.
Do not assume they are compatible. The existing EPDM system and the selected manufacturer’s repair requirements control the products and method.
Some systems allow compatible coatings after preparation. Moisture, adhesion and the condition of the roof need to be resolved first.
